Welcome to our Keeping Children Safe page, please see below for more information.

    Collecting Children from School

All children should be accompanied to and from school by a responsible person and it is our policy that this must be a person over the age of 16. If you will not be collecting your child from school, please notify your child’s class teacher or the school office in writing, of the person who will be collecting them that day. If you will be allowing another person to collect your child on a regular basis, please also put this in writing. Further confirmation by telephone will then not be required. If you need to collect your child during the school day, e.g. for a medical appointment, please report to the school office to sign them out.

    Health and Welfare

We are all concerned with the well-being of the children, and if any child is taken ill or has an accident during the school day, the parents will be notified. Please ensure that the school has an emergency telephone number at which either parent or named person can be contacted. Please notify us of any change of telephone number or contact name.

    Illness

For all absences the school requires notification by letter, email or phone call and we ask that you contact the school office on the morning of the first day of absence and each day thereafter.  If your child is unwell and suffers from sickness or diarrhoea, they must not return to school before 48 hours of their last episode.

    Medicines

Prescribed and non-prescribed medicines will not be administered to children during the school day. If prescribed medication does need to be administered during the school day, we request that parents come to school to give their child the medicine.  Arrangements for children on long term medication are discussed with the Headteacher.

    Pastoral Care

The class teachers are your first point of contact if you have any concerns at all about your child’s emotional well-being. No concern is too small. We want to work in close partnership with you to support every aspect of your child’s well-being and happiness. The class teachers monitor each child in their class and support them in learning to express feelings appropriately and solve problems in a positive, constructive manner. The teaching assistants also support the children by listening, reassuring and supporting them throughout the school day.

    Security

Every step is taken to ensure that the children are as safe as possible in school. We welcome parents and visitors to school and ask you to always present yourself at the office. Visitors, helpers and contractors all have to ‘sign in’ and wear an identity badge. We are constantly reviewing our security to prevent unauthorised entry but allow an easy and quick exit in case of emergency. Gates on the outside play area for the younger children are padlocked and the school playground gate is locked when the children are outside. There are movement alarms on outside doors, again so we can look after our children.
