Volunteers in School

Volunteers at our school bring with them a range of skills and experience that can greatly enhance the learning opportunities of our children. Our volunteers include parents and grandparents of children in our school, members of our ASEC (academy standards and ethos committee), work experience students and members of our local community.

Helping in school can include; hearing children read, supporting small groups of children in different curriculum areas, preparing resources, helping on special themed days, supporting on local walks and educational visits or talking to the children about interesting experiences such as visits to other countries or hobbies and special skills.

If you would like to help regularly (or occasionally) in school please speak to Mrs Mills, our School Business Manager, who will give you more information and arrange a meeting with the Headteacher. All volunteers will receive an induction, providing guidance on school policies and procedures, to ensure that every volunteer feels confident and supported and able to make their role a success.

Please note Cranborne First School and Nursery is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We practise safe recruitment in checking the suitability of staff and volunteers to work with children. Any volunteers will be required to have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS) in line with the Government’s safer recruitment guidelines.
